Women have better driving records than men, says surveyPosted On Mon, March 22, 2010
A new study from a leading insurance information website has found that women who go out looking for auto insurance coverage usually have a better driving record than men do.
According to Rob Klapper, the CEO of Insurance.com, recent research by the auto insurance website found that fewer women had one or more violations when looking for an insurance quote than men. While the percentages between the two sexes were close, only 31 percent of female drivers reported more than one violation, while 33 percent of males did so.
Additionally, the survey found that the tables turned slightly when marriage was involved, as more married women (32 percent) had more than one violation than married men (28 percent).
"Bottom line, safe drivers are safe drivers," Klapper added. "And every driver will want to keep in mind that an accident could raise your insurance rate. The chance of a rate increase is more likely based on factors such as accident severity, if you're at fault, the value of your insurance claim, type of violation, and if the accident appears on your motor vehicle or comprehensive loss underwriting exchange report."
The data for the survey was compiled by data from more than 7 million drivers who visited the website.
