William Shatner warns consumers about turkey fryingPosted On Fri, November 18, 2011
A recent report from home insurance company State Farm and performer William Shatner warned consumers about the risks of house fires and personal injury involving turkey frying.
Cooking fires occur on Thanksgiving more frequently than any other day during the year, the report noted. Claims related to cooking or grease fires are also known to double on turkey day compared to any other day in November.
Shatner noted that he is quite fond of fried turkey, but is no stranger to making mistakes with it, the report noted.
"In fact, my family now gathers together to watch my mishaps," Shatner said. "Several years ago I was even burned on my arms after accidentally dropping the turkey in the hot oil. People need to remember that hot oil and turkey can be a dangerous combination."
It would be wise for consumers to take extra precautions when cooking during the holidays, but since accidents are known to occur, homeowners should ensure they have sufficient coverage. If the person doesn't think their current plan is good enough, it may be a good plan to examine other home insurance quotes, as there may be something more affordable that is still sufficient.
