Wellness programs helping company healthcare costs dropPosted On Tue, February 28, 2012
Companies that include wellness programs as a part of their healthcare option drops overall costs significantly, according to a report from Interactive Health Solutions.
Healthcare costs declined, on average, by 8.4 percent when a wellness program was used for companies. In addition, more than 80 percent of consumers met or exceeded those goals set out by the program.
"We've tracked over 36 million data points to deliver analysis and benchmarks against national norms and peer groups," said Joseph O'Brien, president and chief executive officer of IHS. "'Healthiest Companies in America' recognizes those companies that do an outstanding job encouraging employees to engage with these programs. It's just one way to showcase this crucial component of containing healthcare costs nationally."
If a person does not have a wellness program included in their healthcare option from their employer, it may be a good idea to try to save money by looking for a better healthcare plan. There are many health insurance rates that are low, but still offer coverage that is sufficient.
