Trulia lists costliest, cheapest cities to live inPosted On Thu, April 14, 2011
With home affordability at an all-time high, it's not hard to find a home with a discounted price. Nevertheless, a popular real estate listing website is pinpointing where some of the biggest deals in the housing marketplace can be had.
This week, Trulia.com unveiled its first Home Offer Report. The website said it will be released four times a year and should benefit both buyers and sellers.
Trulia.com's new Home Offer Report gives buyers the upper hand to make strategic, aggressive offers when a home is due for a price reduction, increasing the likelihood the seller will accept it while minimizing the competition from other buyers who might be attracted to the property by a price cut," said Tara-Nicholle Nelson, consumer educator for Trulia.com
The report tracks multiple categories of data, such things as which cities are the most likely to have homes that will reduce their asking price more than once, the ones that have homes offering the deepest price cuts and the cities where deals are few and far between. Boston, Austin, and Raleigh top Trulia.com's list of "stingiest sellers."
Home insurance costs vary from state to state, so this list should help people find the best city to live in if premiums are expensive.
