Texting while driving can ruin lives and drive up auto insurance ratesPosted On Fri, August 28, 2009
A British public service announcement is gaining worldwide attention for its graphic depiction of an automobile accidents caused by texting while driving - a practice that can cause devastating injuries and seriously impact one's auto insurance rate.
A recent Boston Herald report described the ad, which was produced by the Gwent Police Department in South Wales and which has stirred up controversy for its extremely graphic depiction of the bloody aftermath of a fatal crash caused by a young woman who was texting.
According to the report, a considerable amount of blood is shown in the ad the sound of bones breaking can be heard, as can a young child who is screaming "why won't mommy and daddy wake up?"
While this particular commercial has proven controversial, it is having the desired effect of calling more attention to the issue of texting while driving, which has been linked to a number of serious accidents this year alone.
Even those lucky enough to avoid harming themselves or others in such a crash can expect to see a substantial increase in their auto insurance rates for causing an accident.
