Study: More Americans signing up for life insurance

Posted On Thu, October 6, 2011

A recent report from life insurance company Prudential showed that more consumers are taking advantage of life insurance plans, and other benefits from their places of work.

More than 80 percent of consumers noted that they have signed up for a life insurance plan, while another two-thirds have disability insurance, according to Prudential's Sixth Annual Study of Employee Benefits: Today and Beyond. More than one in five employees noted that they are covered for long-term care.

"While the life insurance enrollment rate is reassuring, many Americans are not electing sufficient coverage to maintain their families' standard of living in the event of an untimely death, or taking the time to really think through their benefits elections," said Lori High, president of Prudential Group Insurance. "It's important that people take time to make informed choices."

Consumers who have not yet signed up for such a plan, it may be a good idea to examine different life insurance rates, as finding the best plan for a person doesn't need to be a financial burden.
