Study: Money worries keeping more women awake at nightPosted On Thu, August 25, 2011
A new report finds women seem to be more troubled by household financial and insurance issues, with 30 percent of women saying it keeps them up at night.
The survey, conducted by financial management site Manilla.com, found that money was the biggest reason women were kept awake, with the second most common response - their to-do lists - accounting for just 18 percent.
"Financial problems impact nearly everyone's health and happiness and many times women bear that brunt even more than men," said Jessica Insalaco, chief marketing officer of Manilla. "Maintaining an organized financial life can mean less stress and more healthful choices. I don't know any woman who couldn't benefit from a few more z's every night."
Some of that financial stress may be reduced by searching for cheap insurance rates online, as 32 percent of women reported being bothered by the clutter caused by paper mail, and a majority said they were negatively affected by disorganization with their finances.
Interestingly, men were much less affected by financial stress or concerns about insurance rates or annuties. Of those polled about what kept them from sleeping, nothing was the most common answer.
