Slick road conditions call for extra cautionPosted On Wed, November 24, 2010
Snow and slush can lead to a potentially dangerous situation. Getting into a car accident can not only frighten a driver, but can lead to higher auto insurance rates as well.
Fremont Insurance in Michigan has some safety tips for motorists before embarking on their travels. The insurer says it's important for drivers to decrease their speeds when on the road. This can hold especially true when snow is falling.
Kurt Dettmer, vice president of marketing at Fremont Insurance, has advice for preventing accidents.
"If I had to give people just one bit of advice, it would be to simply slow down," says Dettmer. "It seems like everyone is in a hurry to get somewhere these days, particularly during the holiday season, and the faster you are going, the less time you have to react in an emergency situation."
Having a car with extra safety features will help keep motor vehicle occupants from suffering severe injuries and can help lower car insurance premiums. Auto buyers should keep that in mind when considering which vehicle to purchase.
