Report: Nine in 10 corporations have wellness programsPosted On Mon, November 21, 2011
A recent report from the Advertising Specialty Institute noted that the number of companies who offer some type of wellness program, which give consumers the opportunity to have lower health insurance rates, is increasing.
A report cited by the ASI noted that only around 20 percent of consumers will take part in such programs without some type of incentive. However, incentives spikes the figure to more than 60 percent. The federal government spends the vast majority of the healthcare budget on the care for preventable conditions. The total budget in 2010 was $2.5 trillion.
"It's clear from ASI's research that companies can attain a significant ROI through wellness programs - but while 90 percent of U.S. corporations provide employee wellness programs, only 44 percent offer promotional products as incentives for participation," said Timothy Andrews, president and chief executive officer of ASI.
It is highly recommended to live a healthy life, as doing so can allow people to live longer, along with receiving significantly lower health insurance rates. If a person's company offers such perks, it may be wise to take advantage of the situation.
