Project Ignition to preach driver safetyPosted On Wed, October 19, 2011
A recent report from auto insurance company State Farm noted that Project Ignition occurs during National Teen Driver Safety Week in order to raise awareness about teen driving crashes.
October is the most dangerous month for teen drivers, according to State Farm data, and the project will work with high school students who are young drivers to try to change driving behaviors. The reason for the high accident rate is typically due to school being in full swing, students being busier and homecoming occurring.
"There is no group better equipped to address teen driver safety than teens themselves," said Michael VanKeulen, national director of Project Ignition at the National Youth Leadership Council. "Project Ignition believes that with youth leadership, significant change will be possible and car crashes will no longer remain the leading cause of death for teen drivers."
Parents may want to ensure their kids are not only learning good driving habits, but practicing them, as well. It can never hurt to examine auto insurance quotes, as there may be a plan out there that has better coverage than the one currently in place.
