Ohio residents are encouraged to enroll for health insurance

Posted On Wed, March 24, 2010

Ohio's department of insurance is strongly urging it's citizens to enroll now in a health insurance program.

A state health care reform law that took effect on January 1 of this year is said to make health insurance more affordable for new applicants with pre-existing conditions to enroll in a plan. State officials want residents to know that it's important for them to act now.

“I urge any uninsured Ohioan who has not been able to afford health coverage because of chronic or pre-existing conditions to take advantage of health insurance options now,” said Ohio department of insurance director Mary Jo Hudson.

The state's department of insurance says it provides resources that help residents shop for coverage and better understand how to enroll in a health plan.

Congress passed a health care reform law Sunday that will affect U.S. residents nationwide. Many have viewed it as a hot button issue for both the Democrat and Republican parties.

At least 14 states plan on filing a federal lawsuit as soon as the health care reform bill is signed into law. ADNFCR-2297-ID-19686953-ADNFCR
