New York Insurance Department reveals list of best insurance companiesPosted On Wed, October 27, 2010
There are several factors a motorist should take into account when considering auto insurance plans. In addition to assessing their own coverage needs, it may be a good idea to follow up on reviews of particular insurers.
The New York State Insurance Department recently released a list of car insurance companies based on complaint filings. Among the insurers with $1 million or more in premiums, Nationwide Mutual Insurance ranks the best. Out of 51 companies, Nationwide tops the list without a single complaint.
New York Insurance Superintendent James Wrynn says the ratings can serve as an important tool for consumers.
"Consumers can use the information on this report to evaluate the performance of their insurance company," says Wrynn. "They can also use it to check the performance of other companies if they are looking for a new auto insurer."
The Ohio Insurance Department advises consumers who have a dispute to attempt to settle things with the insurance company first. They say that since the insurance business is competitive, most insurers are willing to work with people to resolve any issues that arise.
