More new technology to enter vehicles in 2012Posted On Mon, March 12, 2012
The American Automobile Association recently released a report showing that new technology will be debuting in some new cars and trucks this year.
Brake assist now will be standard in many vehicles, the report noted. This will stop the vehicle in an emergency situation even if a person does not slam on the brakes. In addition, backup cameras and parking warning systems will be more common. These technologies were previously available in luxury vehicles, but are now found in standard options.
"Technologies like anti-lock braking and stability control were once seen as pioneering innovations and are now required or standard features," said John Nielsen, AAA's director of automotive engineering and repair. "Looking to the future, we hope the cost for these technologies continues to come down, allowing more drivers to enjoy the safety, economy and performance they provide."
Those drivers who are worried about new technology running up the price of new vehicles may want to think about ways that will save them money in the long run. One way could be to examine auto insurance rates and find the least expensive option that still fits their needs.
