Money can be saved by driving betterPosted On Fri, March 16, 2012
With gas prices squeezing some consumers wallets, it may be a good idea to take extra measures in order to make gas last longer in the tank, according to a report from the Car Care Council.
Staying at or below 60 miles per hour when driving can help save a large amount of gas. This is because gasoline levels drop signficantly above this rate of speed, the report said. In addition, don't idle for more than a couple of minues at a time. Idling is unnecessary and can force someone to lose a large amount of fuel.
"Some motorists think they are saving money when they put off needed vehicle maintenance. What they don't realize is that neglecting routine maintenance can end up costing a lot more," said Rich White, executive director of the Car Care Council.
While taking measures to keep the car in top condition will help save money, further steps can be taken. Drivers can compare auto insurance quotes to find the plan they need that doesn't cost a tremendous amount.
