Mercedes-Benz raising driver awarenessPosted On Thu, October 20, 2011
Mercedes-Benz recently announced its opening of a U.S.-based driving school that is primed to teach American students about the importance of driver safety.
The automaker employed independent driver education professionals who are to help young people drive safe, as the main reason for death amongst teens is car crashes, the report noted. Teen drivers are also more likely to get into a bad accident in the first 12 months of being behind the wheel. Their crash risk is approximately four-times more than that of more experienced drivers, or adults.
"Road conditions, technology, distractions, traffic and other externalities including a record number of drivers today along with road improvement projects require a totally new approach to ensure teens become safe and responsible drivers," said Carolyn Duchene, director for the Mercedes-Benz Driving Academy.
Parents of young drivers not only want them to travel safe on the road, but likely want their children covered properly in case of an accident. The best way to do this is to find the most comprehensive plan by comparing competitive auto insurance quotes.
