Many consumers fixing their vehicles themselves

Posted On Tue, February 7, 2012

A report from showed that more Americans are doing their own repairs to their vehicle due to the current economy, as well as their vehicles getting older.

The "2012 DIY Report" showed close to half of consumers who like to do their own repairs have noted doing just that over the past 12 months. Nearly 70 percent said they were more likely to try to fix something that could be considered more difficult, as well.

More than 80 percent explained they prioritized saving money as to why they do their own repairs, the report noted. Six in 10 Americans noted by doing it themselves, they have saved more than $500 annually due to this practice. Another 89 percent said they would bring their car into the shop if they were able to purchase the correct part for the vehicle.

If a person feels their auto insurance plan is hurting their ability to make other payments, it may be a good idea to look at alternative auto insurance rates, as there could be a better plan available.
