Many consumers don't sleep enough

Posted On Fri, May 4, 2012

The Better Sleep Council recently conducted a survey which found that a large portion of Americans are not getting enough sleep, and are falling asleep in places other than their own bed.

Close to half of consumers fall asleep somewhere other than their own bed once or more each week, according to the survey. In addition, 11 percent noted that they fall asleep somewhere other than in their bed on a daily basis.

"The health problems associated with not getting enough sleep are well documented," said Karin Mahoney, director of communications for the BSC. "People who don't get enough sleep can suffer from poor performance at work or school to depression, diabetes, heart disease and other ailments."

With the health issues that come from having a lack of sleep, many Americans may want to make sure they speak with a professional if they deal with sleep problems. Those who aren't sure their health insurance plan will cover such visits may want to look for a new plan. Many health insurance quotes are available, and some may have low rates.
