Life insurance companies learn how to tweetPosted On Wed, April 28, 2010
Consumers are used to following their friends, family, and favorite celebrities on Twitter, but now insurance companies want in on the tweeting action, too.
The American Council of Life Insurers recently announced the launch of their company's Twitter account. The organization believes that using this social media outlet will help them stay current with the ever-changing media landscape. Using Twitter will enable ACLI to communicate more effectively with consumers, the media, and policy-makers.
ACLI senior vice president of public affairs and publishing Shawn Hausman said that "our methods of communication have changed dramatically over the last several years. Social media tools, such as Twitter, have helped connect people and industries from countries across the globe, and have given individuals a voice that helps shape our public debates. ACLI's use of Twitter will allow us to connect with the very folks who rely on our products and will increase the speed in which our important messages on financial and retirement security are relayed to the media and policy-makers. I am excited at the opportunities this will bring to ACLI."
Twitter is a microblogging service that was created in 2006.
