Kelley Blue Book releases its top gas-sipping models of 2011Posted On Tue, April 12, 2011
Hoping to save motorists money on their auto insurance and gas bills, a leading provider of new and used car information has released what it considers to be the year's most fuel-efficient vehicles.
Kelley Blue Book recently named its Top 10 Green Cars of 2011 and each car has an in-depth explanation of why it made the cut.
Jack Nerad, executive editorial director of KBB ,said expounding on each choice is necessary because consumers have never had more fuel-efficient options.
"The sheer number and types of choices in the green cars category has grown remarkably in the last year," Nerad said. "Whether drivers are looking to be more environmentally friendly or seeking to save cash at the gas pump or both, the latest Top 10 Green Cars list from KBB.com offers a variety of choices to suit drivers' various Green Car wants and needs."
High among KBB's recommendations is Nissan's Leaf, the carmaker's electric vehicle. While the car review website notes that the Leaf is remarkably fuel-eficient - getting the equivalent of 99 miles per gallon on one charge - KBB says its limited range disqualifies it from having universal appeal. This may help explain why sales for the Leaf have been so modest.
