Home care expenses remain the same in 2012Posted On Mon, April 16, 2012
Those who need home care are not spending any more money in 2012 than they would have during 2011, according to a report from Genworth.
The firm's 2012 Cost of Care Survey showed that homemaker services cost approximately $18 per hour, while health aide services were $19 per hour. In addition, homemaker services have only increased 1.2 percent per year in the previous five years, while health aide services have inched up 1.1 percent per year in the last five years.
"Overwhelmingly, Americans prefer to receive long term care in the home and the relatively muted increase in home care costs over the past few years can be viewed as a positive for consumers," said Steve Zabel, senior vice president of long term care at Genworth.
Americans who are unsure that their plan will cover major health issues that will require an intensive amount of care, may want to compare it with other health insurance quotes. There are many that could be sufficient and won't be too expensive.
