Healthcare law challenge to be heard by Supreme CourtPosted On Tue, November 15, 2011
The Supreme Court recently announced it will listen to the court case challenging the Affordable Care Act, the 2010 health insurance reform law.
With the court's acceptance of the case, this could allow arguments to take place by March of 2012 and a decision before July. Three appeals courts have reached mixed conclusions about the law.
"Earlier this year, the Obama Administration asked the Supreme Court to consider legal challenges to the health reform law and we are pleased the court has agreed to hear this case," Dan Pfeiffer, communications director for The White House said in a statement. "We know the Affordable Care Act is constitutional and are confident the Supreme Court will agree."
Consumers may want to keep a close eye on the continued developments in this case, as it could have a significant effect on health insurance rates. For those who are concerned about their current coverage situation, comparing health insurance quotes may help consumers find the best plan available for them.
