Healthcare exchanges becoming more popularPosted On Wed, March 21, 2012
More consumers may be interested in healthcare exchanges, according to a study from J.D. Power and Associates.
The 2012 U.S. Member Health Plan Study showed that 55 percent of those who buy insurance are interested in using some type of healthcare exchange. Also, 39 percent of those who have insurance from their employer noted the same sentiment. Of those who have a health plan already, 37 percent noted they would not use an exchange. Another 50 percent who have a plan through their job said they were not interested as well.
"Health insurance exchanges are meant to appeal to individuals who must buy coverage on their own, yet the level of interest among those who obtain health insurance at work could have important implications for the future of employer-sponsored coverage," said Rick Millard, senior director of the healthcare practice at J.D. Power and Associates.
Those who are more interested in a plan that doesn't involve healthcare exchanges may want to look online for health insurance quotes. This can give them an easy option and take away the stress of finding the right plan.
