GHSA widens impaired driving policyPosted On Fri, October 14, 2011
A recent announcement from the Governors Highway Safety Association revealed the organization's revamping of its drugged driving policy due to a significant amount of impaired drivers on the roads.
The reason for more stipulations on the roads for these crimes is due to 11 percent of drivers in the daytime and more than 14 percent of those at night testing positive for substances that would prevent their ability to drive properly and safely.
"Both state and national data indicate that drugged driving is a growing problem that demands more attention," said Barbara Harsha, executive director of GHSA. "The Association supports a broad approach to address this challenge. As with drunk driving, a strong national-state partnership is necessary to make progress."
This information may not only encourage consumers to drive safer, but also to ensure that their insurance coverage is substantial due to the increasing amount of impaired drivers on the road, which can make driving more dangerous. If this coverage is not enough, it may be a good idea to look for auto insurance quotes that are better fit to a consumer's life.
