General Motors offers some buyers free car insurancePosted On Thu, July 7, 2011
General Motors saw sales skyrocket in the month of June, and according to CNNMoney, the American automaker is hoping to spur sales further in July by making shoppers an offer they may not be able to refuse.
The source states GM will provide buyers of any one of their vehicles with a year's worth of auto insurance, furnished by MetLife Auto and Home. However, in order to redeem the incentive, buyers must live in the Pacific Northwest.
"We want to give residents of Oregon and Washington another reason to discover Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles," said Chris Perry, vice president of marketing for GM, in an interview with the financial news website.
GM spokesman Tom Henderson told CNNMoney the company performed market research on buyers recently and found many of its customers were having a hard time finding affordable auto insurance.
The source states Hyundai offered a similar program that wrapped up earlier this year, wherein people who purchased a Hyundai model could return it if they lost their job within 12 months of buying the vehicle.
While motorists may have a hard time finding free insurance, several price comparison websites can help consumers obtain cheap insurance quotes.
