Employers trying to find better healthcare options for workersPosted On Fri, March 16, 2012
A report from Aon Hewitt showed that many employers are interested in finding their workers a better healthcare option through a Corporate Health Exchange, even if these options won't be readily available until 2017.
The report found that more than 90 percent of employers plan on giving their employees some sort of health insurance option in the future. In addition, close to three-quarters of those polled noted their interest in a Corporate Exchange healthcare option. Close to 45 percent of employers said they will give their employees health benefits though the aforementioned model in the coming years.
"Large employers will continue to provide valuable health care benefits to their employees," said Ken Sperling, national health exchange strategy leader with Aon Hewitt. "The emergence of Corporate Exchanges allows employers and employees to benefit from the competitive dynamic that exchanges create and the promise this competition can have in lowering costs."
Consumers who don't have a sufficient health insurance plan from their employer may want to look elsewhere for options. There are inexpensive health insurance rates available, and being covered may be smarter than risking not receiving care without such a plan.
