El Nino unlikely to appear before spring

Posted On Tue, December 11, 2012

According to a recent article released by Reuters, the El Nino weather pattern that is threatening to cause a multitude of problems all around the world is not likely to occur before the Northern Hemisphere's spring of 2013.

Although the previous prediction of El Nino had the storm-producing weather picking up strength by winter of 2012, new analysis shows that this is not likely before spring.

The delayed storm weather is good news for Asia and South America, where the uneven pattern would create a drought and flooding, respectively, if it were to strike before spring.

El Nino could also cause strange winter weather patterns across the U.S. if it struck at the wrong time. More snow in the Southwest and California, leading to potential homeowners insurance problems for residents of those states. Additionally, if the weather pattern were to affect the U.S. on a regular basis, it could lead to providers in those areas raising their insurance rates due to increased risk.
