Doctors not able to take on public healthcare patients

Posted On Fri, June 29, 2012

Jackson Healthcare unveiled the results of a survey which showed that many physicians are unable to take on more people with Medicare or Medicaid plans due to the lack of reimbursements.

At present, 26 percent of doctors don't see Medicaid patients, while another 36 percent of those polled said they can't take any more Medicaid patients, according to the survey. In addition, 17 percent explained that they cannot continue to take those on Medicare, while 10 percent noted they don't see them at all.

"This is creating the perfect storm that will make it very difficult for the poor and elderly to access a doctor,” said Richard Jackson, chairman and CEO of Jackson Healthcare. "Physicians say they just can’t afford to be part of a system that generates so many patients for so little compensation."

Searching for health insurance quotes may be a way for a person to find a policy that is comparable to their current public offering. In addition, this may help them find health insurance rates that are not out of their price range.
