Consumer confidence in healthcare industry improvingPosted On Fri, September 30, 2011
A recent report announced that consumers are developing positive opinions of the healthcare industry, which may mean that more Americans are looking for better health insurance quotes.
The Thomson Reuters Consumer Healthcare Sentiment Index increased to 98 in September, which was slightly higher than the previous month's index of 97. The index takes information from the PULSE Healthcare Survey, and consists of the retrospective index and prospective index, the report noted.
The prospective index takes into consideration American sentiment of the industry over the next three months. This remained at 98 in September, the same as August's figure, the report specified. This may suggest that more consumers are optimistic that they can pay for their insurance and other healthcare-related activities.
The retrospective index increased to 98 in September, a two-point rise from August, the report showed. More consumers may be unlikely to skip a visit to the doctor or fill a prescription.
The baseline for the index is 100, which was set in 2009, the report added. This suggests that the index is approaching a healthy level.
