Chrysler to offer hybrid modelPosted On Thu, January 20, 2011
Another automaker has joined the hybrid car market this time Chrysler is joining the fold.
It's early yet, but according to Automotive News, Chrysler will be unveiling the 300 Hybrid within the next few years. Exactly when the hybrid will appear on Chrysler's showroom floor isn't known because the car company hasn't issued a press release, but some reports say it will be unveiled in 2013. Chrysler's CEO, Sergio Marchione, talked about the development plans last week in Detroit at the North American International Auto Show. It's believed to fetch between $30,000 to $40,000.
With the rising cost of gasoline, hybrid car sales have been on the increase in recent years thanks to their fuel efficiency, often getting around 50 miles to the gallon in the city, a little less on the highway.
According to Edmunds.com, auto insurance companies often offer discounts for people that insure hybrids. Studies suggest hybrid owners are less likely to get into accident, leading to 10 percent discounts among some providers.
