Car sales end 2009 on high note, says EdmundsPosted On Thu, December 31, 2009
Citing "across the board" increases in activity to their website, online auto consumer site Edmunds.com is predicting a large increase in sales at the tail end of 2009 due to year-end-events and close-out deals.
Jessica Caldwell, a senior analyst for Edmunds, said that the increase in traffic that was primarily seen throughout the last week of 2009. Adding that traffic to their website had often been indicative of sales figure, she said that December had the potential to hit a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 11.7 million.
"Our website activity is through the roof, which makes sense as there are so many bargain-hunters scrambling to get year-end deals and cash in on the sales tax deduction opportunity that expires on December 31st," Caldwell said.
Among the brands searched for the most on the website were Ford and Honda, which both advertised year-end sales events, as well as Pontiac and Saturn, which advertised close-out deals on their cars as they prepared to go out of business.
With the anticipated rise in automobile sales to end 2009, many new car owners will likely be in the market for auto insurance. Instead of jumping at the first provider that makes itself available, it is much wiser to shop online for the lowest available rates that one can find for their needs.
