Books to help you understand health care reform

Posted On Mon, March 22, 2010

Has all of this talk about mandatory health insurance got you confused? You're not the only one.

The Christian Science Monitor has compiled a starter list of books that can help you wrap your head around what exactly Sunday's passage of the health care reform bill means.

President Barack Obama hopes to sign the health care reform bill into law sometime this week and these books may provide you with some much sought after information on the debate over health insurance.

The list of books include: "The Health Care Mess: How We Got Into It and What It Will Take to Get Out" by former Surgeon General Julius Richard and medical economist Rashi Fein, "The Cure: How Capitalism Can Save American Health Care" by David Gratzer, "Boomerang: Health Care Reform and the Turn Against Government" by Theda Skocpol, "Overtreated: Why Too Much Medicine Is Making Us Sicker and Poorer" by Shannon Brownlee and "Sick: The Untold Story of America's Health Care Crisis – and the People Who Pay the Price," by Jonathan Cohn.

After a contentious debate between the Democrat and Republican parties, the health care reform bill passed Sunday even though it carried no Republican votes.
