Bank of America offers disaster relief in TennesseePosted On Thu, May 13, 2010
Bank of America recently enacted its disaster relief program in response to the severe flooding experienced by 42 counties in Tennessee. All of the counties were deemed disaster areas by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Bank of America will donate $50,000 total toward the relief efforts taking place in Tennessee. The money will be equally split between the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee and the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
Shelter, food, and other types of support will be provided to families through the bank's monetary donation. Many people were directly affected by high winds, flooding, tornadoes, and severe storms.
Bank of America Tennessee president John Stein said that "we are committed to working with community partners to provide the much needed support to those affected by the significant damage caused by the severe rainfall and flooding. As residents and neighbors to those impacted, it is incumbent on us to provide support during this time of need."
Flooding has affected a number of areas in the U.S. recently. Those in high-risk flood zones should check their home insurance policies to see if coverage is provided in these sorts of instances.
