Americans worry about retirement, health care affordabilityPosted On Fri, November 30, 2012
According to a new study released by Harris Interactive, many Americans fear that they won't be able to afford retirement costs or health insurance rates.
The Harris Poll, based on the answers of more than 2,300 adults, showed that 74 percent of U.S. consumers are worried about being able to afford retirement, and 73 percent are concerned about the health care costs that may occur following retirement.
The study showed that consumers' fears appeared to relate at least in part to Social Security, as only 41 percent of respondents reported that they had faith that the government support system would take care of them.
Additionally, 71 percent of American consumers are worried about the affordability of health care even before retirement, showing a deep distrust of the state of the economy and its ability to care for U.S residents.
