Americans split on healthcare changesPosted On Fri, March 30, 2012
Consumers are split on whether or not the Affordable Care Act is a good idea or not, according to a poll from Harris Interactive.
The Harris Poll found that 36 percent of Americans support healthcare reform, while 41 percent disagree with it. Another 23 percent are not sure about the legislation.
However, many Americans are confused about what the bill plans to do, the report noted. Only 54 percent correctly identified that it plans to force insurers to give the sick coverage. In addition, 55 percent correctly stated that those under the age of 26 can remain on their parents' insurance plans.
More than one-third incorrectly thinks that there will be a new plan run by the government as a part of healthcare reform, the report added. In addition, 29 percent think that a cut in Medicare is a part of the deal, which is also untrue.
Those consumers who are unsure about changes that healthcare reform may bring could benefit by looking over their current plan and comparing it with health insurance quotes. There are many affordable health insurance rates available that could make the process much easier.
