Accidents involving deer highest in NovemberPosted On Tue, November 1, 2011
A recent announcement from the Pennsylvania Insurance Department noted that the month of November is the most dangerous time for motorists when it comes to avoiding deer collisions.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation noted that more than 3,000 people were injured and more than 40 died from deer-related car accidents in the Keystone State from 2006 to 2010.
"Consumers have the option to carry additional coverage on their auto policy which pays to repair any deer-related damage to your car," said Mike Consedine, Pennsylvania state insurance commissioner. "If you have comprehensive coverage with your policy, your claim will be covered, minus the deductible."
Some good ideas to avoid getting into such an accident in any part of the country is to drive with a heightened amount of caution when in highly wooded areas, the report noted. In addition, drive in areas that have good lighting and do not tailgate.
Those who do not have the proper coverage that will protect them against accidents involving deer may want to compare auto insurance rates that are both affordable and cover these types of situations.
