The University of South Carolina's Moore School of Business has announced the creation of a new student-run website that will focus on technological innovation in the insurance industry.

The website - http://www.innovationininsurance.com, or i3 - will focus on specific issues regarding the technological aspects of the industry and advancements made in tools to assist customers and insurers throughout the life of a policy.

Additionally, the website will also monitor the latest industry developments regarding mergers and acquisitions, the announcement of new products and services, and a directory of various insurance technology venders.

"Insurance is perhaps the most data and process-driven service business in the world," said Jeff Thompson, i3's managing director and an adjunct faculty member for insurance at Moore. "This new web portal provides everyone in the industry - particularly insurance technology professionals - the critical access to information about innovative developments in the industry."

The website will be operated by Moore School students who are focusing on the use of technology in the insurance industry and allow them to gain "direct, hands on experience in running a small enterprise," according to Scott Koerwer, the Moore School's deputy dean.

The Moore School was recently listed by U.S. News & World Report as having one of the top ten insurance programs in a business school.
