Parents may not know what dental care kids needPosted On Wed, February 8, 2012
A study from MetLife found that while parents are dedicated to their children's oral health, not everyone is taking the right preventative measures to ward off health issues.
More than 95 percent of parents who had kids under the age of six noted that they think their child's dental health was good, according to the survey. However, more than 40 percent of parents noted their child has their teeth brushed once daily at most. Another 45 percent said that they don't floss their child's teeth.
"Children should be introduced to the concept of teeth cleaning and brushing at an early age," notes Dr. David Guarrera, vice president of MetLife Dental Products. "Once a tooth appears, parents should brush children’s teeth twice a day with a child's toothbrush and water."
Consumers who are concerned about their child's dental health may not only want to have insurance that covers oral issues, but also sufficient health insurance, as it has a direct effect on their own health. Examining health insurance quotes to find the best plan could be a smart idea.
