Life insurance policies needed to cover funeral expenses
Consumers generally shop for life insurance policies with their family's financial future in mind. However, one recent news report reminds them that they also need to be sure their own funeral costs are covered by their policies.
A recent article on MontanaNewsStation.com speaks with some funeral home directors who stress the importance of being prepared to meet one's final expenses.
According to the report, the average U.S. funeral now costs more than $7,300, although in Montana and some other parts of the country that price can be lower. The news website also notes that some may choose cremation as a more affordable alternative to a traditional funeral.
"A lot of people today are pre-planning and they'll go ahead and at least make the plans in advance," funeral director Tom Thompson told the website.
In general, life insurance policies are designed to guarantee a family's financial stability in the event of an unexpected death. However, given the current economic climate and the rising cost of things like funeral expenses, it's never too early to start shopping for the right life insurance.
