Programs
In January 2006, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico implemented the Care Van program. The Care Van is a 29-foot vehicle designed with an examination table, portable dental chair, and satellite for Internet access in rural areas. Medical personnel staffing the Care Van are able to give childhood immunizations and flu shots, well-child examinations, basic dental screenings and sealants, health education resources, and basic check-ups.
