Health Plan of Nevada provides Nevada residents with health service options, mostly through Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) plans. Health Plan of Nevada is a subsidiary of Sierra Health Services, Inc and offers plans to individuals, employer groups, and Medicare-eligible individuals. In May 2006 Health Plan of Nevada was awarded the accreditation status of “Commendable” by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). Types of Plans

Health Plan of Nevada offers a variety of plans to individuals and groups depending on the needs of the members. Both group and individuals have access to HMO plans and Point-of-Service (POS) plans. Health Plan of Nevada health insurance also offers some Preferred Partner Organization (PPO) plans as well. Members can also choose a Premium Advantage Plan which allows them to decide on their own premiums levels in order to save money. Individual health insurance plans include:

• Distinct Advantage HMO Option 1 – gives individuals a $1m maximum lifetime benefit with annual copayment limits for individuals and families of $2000 and $4000 respectively. Copayments vary on service
• Distinct Advantage HMO Option 2 – gives individuals a $1m maximum lifetime benefit with annual copayment limits for individuals and families of $4000 and $8000 respectively. Copayments vary on service.
• Distinct Advantage HMO Option 3 – varies maximum benefits and copayment limits depending on the options within the plan. Copayments vary on option as well as service. In some cases Copayments are a percentage of cost of service.
• Distinct Advantage HMO Option 4 – gives a individuals a $1m maximum lifetime benefit with annual copayment limits for individuals and families of $5000 and $10,000 respectively. Copayments vary on service.
• Distinct Advantage (HMO and POS) Prescription Drug Benefit – a rider that can be attached to Health Plan of Nevada health insurance to assist with prescription drug costs.
• Individual Dental Plan
• PPO plans available though the Sierra Health insurance company
• Retiree Choice is available through employers
• Senior Dimensions is available to Medicare recipients and is a division of Health Plan of Nevada health insurance that helps arrange services for the individual.
